The Gundam universe is set to expand with the release of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning, a new anime slated for a 2025 premiere. Directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, known for his work on Neon Genesis Evangelion, this series aims to bring a fresh perspective to the Gundam legacy with new storytelling and innovative animation.
Storyline
The story follows Amate Yuzuriha, a high school student living peacefully in a space colony. Amate’s life changes when he becomes involved in an underground mobile suit combat tournament called “Clash Battle” after meeting Nyann, a young refugee displaced by war. Using the codename “Machu,” Amate pilots the GQuuuuuuX in fierce battles. Simultaneously, a mysterious mobile suit named “Gundam” and its enigmatic pilot, Shuji, appear, pursued by the Space Forces and local authorities. Their encounter marks the beginning of a transformative era.
Production Team
The project unites iconic creators of the Gundam series, Hajime Yatate and Yoshiyuki Tomino, and Evangelion‘s mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita, promising a revolutionary visual style for the mobile suits.
